Code of Conduct

Effective Date: June 2026

Purpose

This Code of Conduct is intended to maintain a respectful, professional, supportive, and productive environment for students participating in one-on-one online English lessons with Empress English.

I, Cagri Adal, am committed to providing a professional and respectful one-on-one online lesson environment and expect students to communicate and behave respectfully throughout their lessons and interactions with me.

This Code of Conduct applies to all students participating in one-on-one online English lessons provided by Empress English.

1. Respect and Appropriate Behaviour

Students are expected to treat me with courtesy, respect, and professionalism at all times.

I do not tolerate abusive, threatening, discriminatory, harassing, sexually inappropriate, or otherwise seriously inappropriate behaviour during lessons or in communications relating to Empress English.

Where such behaviour occurs, I may take reasonable steps to protect the lesson environment, including ending a lesson or temporarily suspending future lessons, subject to applicable Turkish law and the relevant cancellation and refund terms.

2. Attendance and Punctuality

Students are expected to attend their scheduled lessons on time.

If a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, the student should notify me as early as possible and follow the Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy.

Late arrival may reduce the student's available lesson time where the lesson has already started.

Unless otherwise stated in the Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy, a lesson does not automatically become refundable or extend beyond its scheduled end time because a student arrives late.

3. Participation and Learning Responsibilities

Students are encouraged to participate actively during one-on-one online lessons, complete recommended practice, and communicate openly with me about their English-learning goals, needs, and progress.

I will make reasonable efforts to adapt individual lessons to the student's stated learning objectives and English level.

However, individual English-learning results may vary between students and cannot be guaranteed.

4. Online Learning Environment

Students are responsible for attending lessons from an appropriate environment that allows them to participate effectively.

Where reasonably possible, students should have:

• A stable internet connection;

• A functioning microphone;

• A suitable device for attending the lesson;

• A quiet environment with minimal interruptions; and

• A camera where appropriate for effective communication.

5. Academic Integrity and Use of AI

Students are expected to complete their own assignments and learning activities honestly.

AI tools, translation tools, dictionaries, grammar tools, and other resources may be used where I allow or encourage their use for learning purposes.

However, students should not submit AI-generated, translated, or copied work as their own where the purpose of the activity is to assess the student's independent English ability.

I may ask a student to complete an activity independently where necessary to accurately assess the student's English level or progress.

6. Lesson Recordings

Students may not record, reproduce, publish, share, distribute, or otherwise make available any lesson, whether by audio, video, screen recording, or another method, without my prior consent.

I will not record a student's lesson without the appropriate legal basis and, where required, the student's informed consent.

Any processing of personal data, including information relating to a student's identity, image, or voice, will be handled in accordance with applicable Turkish personal data protection legislation, including Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK).

7. Lesson Materials

Lesson plans, worksheets, presentations, exercises, explanations, documents, and other original materials that I provide are intended for the enrolled student's personal learning use.

Students may use these materials for their own learning but may not, without my prior written permission:

• Sell or commercially exploit the materials;

• Republish or publicly distribute them;

• Upload them to websites or other platforms;

• Share them as paid or free learning resources;

• Present them as their own work; or

• Use them to provide lessons or training to third parties.

This provision does not restrict any rights that cannot legally be restricted under applicable Turkish law.

8. Privacy

Students must respect my privacy and the privacy of other individuals.

Personal information shared during lessons or communications must not be published, distributed, or disclosed without permission, except where disclosure is required by law.

Personal data processed in connection with lessons will be handled in accordance with applicable Turkish personal data protection legislation and my Privacy Policy / KVKK Information Notice.

9. Breach of This Code

If a student seriously or repeatedly breaches this Code of Conduct, I may take reasonable and proportionate action, which may include ending an individual lesson or temporarily suspending future lessons.

Any cancellation, suspension, refund, credit, or other financial consequences will be handled in accordance with the applicable Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy, Refund & Credit Policy, contractual terms, and applicable Turkish law.

Nothing in this Code of Conduct is intended to limit any mandatory rights granted to consumers under Turkish legislation.

10. Changes to This Code

I may update this Code of Conduct from time to time where necessary to reflect changes to my one-on-one online lesson arrangements, procedures, or applicable legislation.

The current version published on the Empress English website will apply from its stated effective date, subject to mandatory legal requirements applicable to existing agreements.
